On September 22nd, the 2nd Annual Asbury Park Porchfest celebrated beautiful weather, local music, and local residents.  Organized by the Asbury Park Homeowners Association, the event is based on an annual event that started in Ithaca, NY over a decade ago and is now held in cities and towns across the country. It began with local musicians playing on their own front porches for an audience who moved from home to home enjoying live music throughout the day.

Asbury Park’s passionate connection to music along with its idyllic homes and porches make it an ideal town for our own annual PorchFest! This year, eighteen homeowners hosted seventy artists on their porches around the city.  The event drew over 2,000 people from across the area, riding bicycles from porch to porch, bringing their own seating to front lawns, and enjoying a perfect fall afternoon.

This year, the Asbury Park Porchfest selected Interfaith Neighbors and The Public Arts Commission of Asbury Park  as the beneficiaries of the event, sharing over  $2,500 in proceeds.  Next year’s event is scheduled for September 14, 2019. Save the Date!
